Guided experiences and mountain skills in the UK
Whether you’re looking to build navigation confidence, learn to wild camp responsibly, or prepare for a multi-day backpacking trip in the UK or abroad, these private guiding experiences are designed around you.
Each session is one-to-one or for a small group. We’ll focus on interactive, hands-on learning, from map and compass skills to movement on steeper ground, route planning and lightweight backpacking.
You’ll come away with new skills and the confidence to plan your own bigger adventures, whether that’s a weekend in the Lake District or on routes like the Spine Race or the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Why me?
The thing I value most about guiding is helping others to find their own sense of freedom and independence in the outdoors.
Whether I’m teaching navigation, sharing backpacking skills or simply encouraging someone to trust their instincts in the hills, I love seeing those moments where somebody surprises themselves and connects with something new.
My approach is about creating space for learning and curiosity, rather than ‘instructing’. I want people to feel that they belong when they’re in the mountains, no matter their background or experience.
As a qualified International Mountain Leader, I bring over a decade of experience exploring and backpacking through mountain ranges across the UK, the Alps, the Balkans and the Greater Caucasus. I like to think that this international perspective shapes how I teach back at home too: helping you build the skills to travel safely and independently in wild places. That could be a weekend in the Peak District or a future adventure on trails like the Tour du Mont Blanc, PCT or the Cape Wrath Trail.
Who I teach
I work with people who are curious about building confidence in the hills, from complete beginners to experienced walkers looking to take the next step into multi-day or overseas trekking. These guided experiences attract a mix of solo adventurers, small groups and outdoor enthusiasts who want to move beyond following a guidebook route and start planning their own journeys.
You don’t need to be super-fit or have the latest kit. You just need the willingness to learn, explore and enjoy the process. My role is to meet you wherever you are and facilitate some memorable adventures in the hills.
Where you’ll find me
Most of my guiding takes place in the Lake District, but we can also visit some of the UK’s other classic mountain areas like Eryri in Wales; the Highlands and the Yorkshire Dales. These are all ideal places for practicing navigation, movement skills and lightweight backpacking.
Often clients come to me because they’re preparing for bigger adventures like the Tour du Mont Blanc, the Pennine Way or the Alta Via trails. It can be really beneficial to build a solid foundation of skills and confidence here at home first.
